Residents of Mpumalanga have less than two weeks left to comment on the Ingoma Bill before it is made law.
The bill will regulate initiation schools where thousands of young boys are circumcised each winter as part of their passage into manhood.
The public has been allowed 30 days to give input since the Bill was gazetted on August 28.
"This Bill is for the public and they need to comment and make suggestions to truly own it," said provincial local government and housing spokesman Simphiwe Kunene this week.
He invited written comments which said public hearings would also be held once the Bill is tabled before legislature.
Limpopo and the Eastern Cape have already introduced legislation governing initiation schools.
These laws demand, among other things, that all initiation schools are registered with the provincial health department.
The laws also stipulate that boys under the age of 21 have their parent`s consent to attend the schools.
Initiation school owners are also forced to practice good hygiene and report to the department if an initiates falls ill.
Illegal school owners or illegal circumcision surgeons are reported to the police. - African Eye News Service.
