Crocriver Enviro Park

 It is Africa’s largest reptile park with animals from all over the world.  View different species of snakes, lizards, crocodiles, spiders and scorpions.  There is also an animal farm, picnic, braai and restaurant facilities, live demonstrations (09:00 and 15:00).  School and tour groups are welcome.  Open daily from 09:00 to 17:00.  Situated behind the Showgrounds.  Tel +27 13 752-5511.

Croc Grove Farm

Guided tours of the farm where crocodiles are born, bred and slaughtered.  Open daily from 09:00 to 16:00.  Lectures presented before every guided tour.   Tel +27 13 733-6096.

De Brug Ostrich Farm

Learn more about the breeding cycle of the ostrich.  Ostrich curios also on sale.  Guided tours daily at 10:00.  On Kaapsehoop dirt road between Kaapsehoop and Barberton.  Tel +27 13 712-5265. 

Lowveld Botanic Gardens

You can explore these magnificent gardens on several hiking trails and view the extensive indigenous tree collection, one of the largest collections of cycads, the African Rainforest and two waterfalls.  There is also an abundance of bird life and beautiful picnic spots.  There is also a restaurant and coffee shop in the gardens.  Regular Sunday concerts are held in the winter months.  Phone +27 13 752-5531.

Sudwala Caves

The oldest known cave in the world.  Hour-long guided tours through these dolomite caves are conducted daily.  A five-hour long Crystal tour is available for the more adventurous.  Take the Sudwala turn-off from the N4.  Tel +27 13 733-4152. 

Sudwala Dinosaur Park

Next to the Sudwala caves.  Life sized, scientifically accurate models of dinosaurs greet you as you wonder through a lush sub-tropical forest.  Tel +27 13 733-5267.

Emnotweni Casino

The classy Casino with a Victorian ambiance offers 298 slot machines in a wide variety of denominations as well as 12 gaming tables.  There is also a restaurant in the complex.   The Casino is situated at the Riverside township, just outside Nelspruit.   Tel +27 13 757-0021.

Kaapsehoop

This historic mining village, about 30km from Nelspruit, has several attractions including lovely authentic architecture, a flock of wild horses and beautiful views over the escarpment.  There are also several restaurants, a conference centre and guest houses. Kruger National Park
